In the best case scenario, a backpack is a lifelong companion that is versatile and can also be used for more demanding outdoor activities or military or army missions.

What questions should you ask yourself?

The range of products on offer is huge. The most important question here is: What do I intend to do with my new backpack? What will I use it for the most?
Do I need it for longer journeys or weekend trips, for deployment with the army or the armed forces, or for everyday use to store the most important everyday items? What functions should it have? Are lots of outside pockets important or do they just get in the way during use? And then, of course, there is the question of capacity, which is often not so easy to answer. How much is 40 litres if you want to fill it with clothing and equipment? Is the capacity sufficient and is it possible to expand it if you need more? For some, soft padding on the shoulder straps is very important, while others attach more importance to low weight and a handy size so that it can be stowed away at home to save space.

The backpack up to 40 litres

On our website, we have a large selection of models that are suitable for a variety of uses due to their size and design. Some models from our manufacturers are designed as Tactical Assault Packs, i.e. compact backpacks for personal equipment, ammunition and communication equipment. In other words, the classic army backpack. As an extension of this, there are also special backpacks. Thanks to their modular design with additional pockets and other accessories, these can be customised for almost any conceivable mission. This applies, among other things, to reconnaissance personnel, telecommunicators, explosive ordnance disposal personnel or paramedics who need their equipment to be as organised as possible. Many models are equipped with fleece on the inside so that the additional pockets can be easily attached and detached.

Other brands, on the other hand, are geared less towards the military and more towards everyday life. They offer features such as padded laptop compartments, practical organisational elements and many smaller storage options for all items that no longer have room in your trousers. This makes them perfect, for example, as a daypack for school or work, as robust luggage for air travel, as a hiking backpack with built-in compartments for a hydration bladder, devices for filtering water, for bushcraft and outdoor excursions, as a get-home bag (emergency backpack for the car), or as a bug-out bag (emergency backpack for home). In addition to the classic colours such as olive and black, manufacturers are now also offering more and more "civilian" colour combinations so as not to stand out too much. In combination with robust materials (usually nylon or polyester) and high-quality workmanship, these daypacks are reliable companions for many years.

The backpack between 40 and 80 litres

From lightweight hiking and trekking backpacks to tactically inspired 72-hour packs to full-fledged, modern combat backpacks - most people planning an extended tour in the mountains, a longer mission or a camping / outdoor holiday will find what they are looking for here.

The design of the individual backpacks is as varied as the possible uses. Perfectly organised with countless compartments and pockets, expandable with accessories as required thanks to the MOLLE system, traditional with lid and large main compartment, or can be opened completely with a zip. Which design best suits the task at hand is ultimately a matter of taste. With this size, it is much more important how the higher weight is distributed on the back and especially on the hips. We therefore recommend trying on trekking or larger combat backpacks in person in our shop, comparing them and deciding on the right model based on this. As we cannot guarantee that we always have all sizes in stock, please ask about current availability before your visit.

Tip: If a touring backpack is used as a travel bag for flights, simply cover it with the integrated rain cover and stow all straps and belts inside. This prevents snagging and possible damage during transport and provides additional moisture protection for sensitive contents.

Backpacks from 80 litres

Where a normal, large trekking backpack has long since reached its limits, these space miracles are just getting started! They are largely based on the long-distance backpacks used by snipers and scouts who have to carry heavy loads over many days or even weeks.

The models in this category are therefore specially designed for heavy loads and long distances. Ergonomic, specially developed carrying systems for optimum weight distribution on the hips and back also increase carrying comfort compared to old-fashioned military rucksacks, which is essential with a volume of up to 120 litres.

The basic design is the same in almost all cases: a large, divisible main compartment that is accessible from above and below and a height-adjustable lid compartment. This makes it easy to transport sleeping bags, roll mats, clothing, provisions and even long guns.

Tip: As it is often difficult to organise such large backpacks, we recommend storing your robe, sleeping bag and other "soft" equipment in compression bags. These can be packed compactly and protect the contents from moisture and dust.

In addition to the main compartment, most of these long-range packs also have practical, detachable side pockets that can be converted into a lightweight daypack or a small emergency bag in no time at all. These can be carried, for example, when the main luggage is not needed or a large rucksack would simply be a hindrance. Backpacks in these sizes can also be handy.

Bags

Like most of our backpacks, most of the bags in this category have a military background, albeit for different purposes.

The majority of them are so-called messenger bags, i.e. messenger bags for a wide variety of tasks. In addition to high-quality workmanship and high load capacity, they are characterised above all by a large number of compartments and organisational elements. There is room for laptops, books and documents, EDC equipment for travelling and even weapons and ammunition. These shoulder bags are therefore ideal for commuting, work and university, but also as luggage on short flights.

If the trip takes a little longer and you just need as much volume as possible, nothing can compete with a duffle bag. Basically like an oversized sports bag, these extremely robust, tear-resistant, large-capacity bags are specially designed to carry a lot of weight and survive the rougher pace of military transport to the theatre of operations unscathed
